My personal formulation of ritual oil in honor of Hekate. I make this oil only once or twice a year for my own use, and share the rest if I have a bit left over. This batch was prepared back in July 2020 and comes in 3 oz vintage glass apothecary bottles, sealed with corks, and sealed with black wax. Each bottle contains organic sweet almond oil infused with my Hekate herbal blend for at least one full dark moon lunar cycle. Ritual oils can be used to anoint yourself, your tools, to dress candles, as an offering, in ritual baths, to fix spells, and anywhere in your magick that you want to draw the influence of Hekate.

Hekate (or Hecate) is a Greek goddess with roots much older than Ancient Greece. Heqet from Ancient Egypt is a goddess associated with fertility and magick, and evidence of a Hecate cult in Anatolia (present day Turkey) exists. Whether she's Greek, Egyptian, Anatolian, or an amalgamation of all three goddesses, Hekate is a goddess who is hard to categorize. While she's probably best known for her dark attributes (magick, the moon, night, necromancy, and reigning over the souls of the dead), Hekate is also a goddess of protection, fertility, and childbirth, but she is particularly a goddess of liminality and in-between places. In Ancient Greece, she was considered a champion of the people. As a Titan, she fought against the Gigantes, on the side of the Gods on Mount Olympus, earning herself a place as an honorary Olympian. Any information I provide here barely touches the surface of Hekate’s complexity.
